It's a great kit. affordable with almost every USB cable you could need, but it didn't have one to fit their Panasonic Lumix camera. This is by far the best usb wifi device I have ever tried, and I have used allot of them. I work in a computer store and have had the opportunity to try many different brands and devices. This one beats just about all of them. I am able to pull in and connect to nearby access points I never could before and with a totally stable connection. (no dropping in and out) This is with the standard short antenna. The bigger "9 DBI" antenna is just about useless. The signal strength is actually lower with the 9 dbi antenna then with the standard one and I had a hard time connecting to any access point with it. Even the one in my house had a much weaker signal. The others in the neighborhood that I was able to connect to with the short antenna I couldn't connect to at all with the larger antenna. This is why I gave the Alfa only 4 stars, if the 9dbi had worked it would have been 5. The window mount is also pretty handy, you can stick it right to the back of your laptops screen or if need be a nearby window or other surface to get a better signal. If the 9dbi antenna worked it would be the perfect device. If you have a need for an usb wifi card the Alfa 1000mw is the one to get, but save you money and buy one of the kits without the larger antenna.

Received this product early, it was not hard to install. I did disable the internal wireless card first so as not to mess it up. Then installed the new adapter was easy to do it hooked right up and was able to reach about 8 to 10 more connections and the few I was able to get before came in a lot stronger 4 bars. This is in the house if I take the laptop out side on a clear day I can get bout 20. So far so good with no complaints on the product. Have had it about three days now. I can unplug it and use the internal when ever I have a strong signal.

I purchased this item in an attempt to extend the range of my wireless. I use a ATT 2 wire router. I was able to only get a very weak signal (one bar) to my computer in my shop, about 200 feet away. This item enabled me to get an 'Excellent" (5 bar) signal to the computer.

It's a great concept and initially I was very pleased. I mainly planned to use the USB flash drive/reader as an 8 GB replacement for my 1 GB Kingston Data Traveler II Plus Migo flash drive.

At first it seemed to work very well. However, over time I began to notice some quirks and strange problems that I never had with my old flash drive and which didn't go away. I had a lot of intermittent problems, especially with large files. I would get stuck in the middle of copying files or be unable to use the device. In a few cases, the disk even became corrupted and needed to be reformatted.

I think the problem is due to excess heat which doesn't get dissipated quickly enough. Now, to avoid problems I use the SDHC adapter to read the mini card whenever possible and only use the USB reader if there is no SD slot available.

That works okay, but since the flash drive was my main purpose, I need to look for a replacement. As cute as the small size is, I consider the excess heat to be a fundamental design flaw.
