I almost gave up after trying to get the device to work for a couple of hours. The so-called "manual" is a single sheet with a lot of erroneous information on it. Some of the problems with the manual have been mentioned by other reviewers. I finally realized that the CD drivers were unnecessary. My 5-6 year old Toshiba Satelite with Windows Xp SP-2 automaticallly installed the proper drivers when I inserted the adapter into the PCMCIA slot. The device did not function at all with any of the USB devices I tried including a card reader, a flash drive, and a USB portable hard drive. The "manual" indicated using a 5 V power supply with the supplied cable to obtain proper operation with USB sources requiring more power. I didn't have a PS and almost decided to return the adapter rather than having the inconvenience of an external PS. Fortunately I found a review on another site by a reviewer who had similar problems in which he essentially rewrote the manual. He explained that connecting the supplied cable between a pin on the adapter and an existing USB 1.1 slot on the computer should solve many of the problems. I tried this and the adapter now works fine with all of my USB devices. The speed is much greater than provided by the 1.1 input: a tiff file which took one minute to download with USB 1.1 now does it in about 2 seconds. I would have given 5 stars if a proper manual had been provided.

I tried tried installing the NEC drivers which according to the instructions in the package were correct. they did not work. I updated win 2000 to sp4 then installed VIA drivers which worked with generic external case and noname dvd rom. I also tried wduxb2500 external drive which worked great. I also was able to connect a usb "human device interface" which seemed to work ok. The sony usb floppy did not work (i suspect that is a separate driver issue). q-stor support pages were worthless as was enclosed documentation. I wasted way too much time trying to get this card to work.

I purchased the Q-STOR QU2NCB USB 2.0 adapter for my Compaq Presario 2100 Laptop, hoping that I would have USB 2.0 availability which the Presario Laptop doesn't provide. In a word, the adapter never worked, only at USB 1.1 speeds. The instructions are sketchy. The CD does not initialize all required drivers. Q-STOR online is no help at all. There is a wire on the card which supposedly is to be connected to 5 volts. Where that wire is to be connected is unclear. I still have the card: money thrown away.

I purchased this card to give USB 2 functionality to my Dell Latitude. The user "Manual" is one page, which fails to tell you anything you need to know, and seems not to describe the unit I bought, but possibly any one of a range of versions. It was unclear whether you should install the software or the card first. When I installed the card, the Dell seemed to recognise it, and a visit to "Device Manager" confirmed that a number of USB Devices had been installed. None of them were as described in the manual, and all seemed to be using generic Windows drivers. I plugged in a USB Mouse, which did not work. I then plugged in a USB Camera, which froze the Dell solid. Tried a Sony USB Recorder. Same result. I rebooted and attempted to install the software. The 3-1/2" disk does not autorun, nor can it be ejected without shutting down and ejecting as you re-start. The drivers mentioned as necessary in the manual do not exist on the disk, and it is totally unclear from the sub-literate "Manual" why there would be 2 - NEC drivers to install, or how to install them. Doesn't matter. They don't exist. Stor's site support is laughable. That too doesn't exist. What sort of failed businessmanship leads a company like Stor to even think people will accept this kind of product marketing and waste of their time? It's clear to this businessman that they would do themselves far less damage by not selling the product at all. And if Stor finds a seemingly good product that they wish to brand and market (I assume they don't make the card themselves), why is it so hard to do 15 minutes of simple testing, and then, if you decide to go ahead, find a literate and technically competent person to write a simple manual? Lots of people would do that for nothing. Sadly, I'm returning this unit. I now have a very poor opinion of Stor.

I purchased this product and tried to use it in my laptop. Every time I insert this PCMCIA card bus, my laptop shuts down automatically. I am running Windows XP SP2 in my Dell Inspiron 600m laptop. When I opened the instructions of how to install the drivers of this Q-Stor PCMCIA card bus, I could not find any instruction for Windows XP SP2. They have instructions for Windows XP SP1 and earlier versions. I am not very sure whether this works with earlier versions of windows seeing how this shuts down my laptop. This is extraordinary to see laptop shutting down as soon as I insert the PCMCIA card in the slot. I requested help from the Q-Stor customer support and they replied asking me to use the external power for this card bus. I did that and got the same result. So I decided not to take any more risk with this card and return this.
